Container congestion resolved, Customs Spokesman says

Container congestion in Colombo harbour was completely resolved by yesterday morning, Customs Spokesman, Additional Director General of Customs Seevali Arukgoda said yesterday.   

He said the clearing of the container backlog was completed yesterday allowing the smooth functioning of the day-to-day clearance of containers at the harbour.   

He also said that although the Colombo harbour received around 1200 containers per day, the inward flow of containers last week rose up to 2900, creating a congestion in the harbour.
