Bomb hoax lead to security beef up in and around Ruwanweliseya premises

Security in and around Ruwanweliseya in Anuradhapura was  beefed up yesterday afternoon on an anonymous call that an individual  was preparing to launch a bomb attack.   

A woman from Kurunegala area had given a telephone call to the police emergency 119.    The Police took immediate steps to beef up security in the area and launched a search operation.    However, the police said no suspicious individual or object was found in the compound of Ruwanweliseya or its  surroundings.    A senior police official said they initiated investigations  to identify the woman responsible for false information and that legal  action would be taken against her.
