Applications open for ‘Asidisi Media Scholarship’



The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has called for applications for the annual ‘Asidisi Media Scholarship Programme 2025,’ aimed at enhancing the professionalism of Sri Lankan journalists.

Eligible applicants include journalists aged 18–55 employed in recognized media institutions—whether full-time, part-time, freelance, provincial, or web journalists, and media technicians—with at least three years of experience. Applicants must also hold a valid 2025 media identity card issued by the Department of Information. Courses applied for must be directly related to the field of Mass Media.  

The scholarship provides Rs. 200,000 for graduate or postgraduate programmes and Rs. 100,000 for long or short-term certificate courses conducted by recognized institutions. Funds will be disbursed in three installments: 50% at course commencement, 25% mid-course, and the final 25% upon successful completion and submission of the certificate.  

Applicants can benefit from the scholarship twice, with a five-year gap between each successful application. Selection will be based on an interview conducted by a committee appointed by the Ministry Secretary.  

Applications must be submitted by 23rd May 2025 to the Director (Media), Ministry of Health and Mass Media, No. 163, ‘Asidisi Medira,’ Kirulapone Mawatha, Polhengoda, Colombo 5, either via registered post or online by scanning the QR code on the official website: www.media.gov.lk.
