All Island Buddha Sasana Council donates Rs. 45 million to Myanmar hit by earthquake

All Island Buddha Sasana Council of Sri Lanka (AIBSCSL) donated Rs.45 million for the benefit of people in Myanmar affected by the recent earthquake, according to a statement signed by its General Secretary Ven. Mugunuwela Anuruddha Thera.   

Its President Ven. Thumbulle Seelakkandha Thera handed over the cash donation to Myanmar ambassador Ms. Marlar Than Htaik recently.   

With the involvement of heads of regional Buddha Sasana councils and under the guidance of Buddhist Affairs Department and the Divisional Secretaries, monetary donations were collected through the conduct of a Pada Yatra.   

The cash donation was handed over at a function graced by AIBSCSL Vice President Most Ven. Thalagala Sumanaratana Thera, Acting General Secretary Most Ven. Halpanwila Palitha Thera, Secretary of Myanmar Fund Ven. Dunukewatte Seelawimala Thera and Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hiniduma Senevi, Deputy Minister Gamagedara Dissanayake and Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs
