Sri Lanka will not face a shortage of salt, assured Minister Udaya Gammanpila while addressing the Cabinet briefing session today.
While concerns were being raised on the likelihood of a shortage in salt due to the contamination of the seas caused by the X-Press Pearl, he stressed the local market will not face any impacts due to the chemical spillage that could hamper salt production.
According to Gammanpila, the leakage of harmful chemicals from the container ship has not spread to the salterns.
