Sri Lanka is to seek Japanese assistance to resolve some of the issues it is being confronted with at international forums, Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris said.
The Minister told a news conference recently that Japan had already played that role in presenting and interpreting Sri Lanka’s point of view to other countries. He said Japan is well qualified to do it because of empathy, compassion, gentleness and consensus shown by Japanese culture.
He made these remarks at the press conference jointly conducted with the Japanese Embassy last week to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. (Kelum Bandara)

Sri Lanka's reputation has declined steadily because of Rajapakse regime's proChina stance. Japan, please don't get involved. Let China handle Sri Lanka.

No way, Japanese are well aware of double standard attitude of these crooked jerks. They have more interesting business partners than bankrupted Sri Lanka. Once the "real democratic" system has established, they will consider to help.

Our people were told that we had big brother China looking after our security by establishing bases. Then told we had another brother in India giving us money to keep us well fed. Now we are told we need an another brother to liaise in international forums because we are immature and cannot grow up and look after us
