Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka appealed to security forces not to implement unconstitutional and unlawful orders given by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who introduced himself as the Acting President.

He said in a statement that there was a rumour that shooting orders have been issued to security forces and that there would be a serious escalation of clashes between the civilians and the security forces.

He urged the armed forces as a lawful and disciplined army, not to open fire at unarmed civilians and that their weapons should be pointed at the currupt politicians.

He said he was in the struggle and committed to achieve the victory of the people's struggle.

I think Mr Fonseka statement say weapons must be directed at politicians, must be a violation of law and it is an encouragement to kill politicians

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka should be ashamed of himself in appealing to security forces not to implement unconstitutional and unlawful orders given by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe! Read the Constitution of the country and follow that not your personal opinion! They are not unarmed civilians but violent terrorist (SJB/JVP) mobs bringing anarchy to the nation. It should be shoot on sight.

As a senior Army officer you should be careful with the words. After all you are a politician too. That means is it okay to aim the weapon at you?
