Former MP Mangala Samaraweera is presently under intensive care after he was hospitalized with the COVID-19 virus.
Samaraweera is presently receiving treatment at a private hospital and has developed complications from the virus, sources said. He has received both doses of his COVID-19 vaccine. (JH)

He had received both doses. So it is clear that the vaccines are not an effective solution in the long term. So no point forcing people to take a vaccine that is not 100% effective.

These vaccines are made for alpha variant. They do not work on other variants. The same reason there is no vaccines for common cold. Mutation time line is shorter than the vaccine development time line.
