Colombo, June 10 (Daily Mirror) - Railway services will operate as normal today (10) after railway controllers called off the trade union action that was scheduled to commence at midnight yesterday (09).
The decision to suspend the strike was taken following a discussion with the Private Secretary to the Deputy Minister of Transport, who assured union representatives that an investigation into the incident in question would be conducted and a decision reached within the next 48 hours.
General Secretary of the Railway Controllers' Association, Rukmal Bandara, stated that the assurance given by the ministry led to the withdrawal of the planned industrial action.
As a result, all train services are expected to run according to the regular schedule today, providing relief to thousands of daily commuters who faced the prospect of widespread disruptions.
