Sri Lanka reaffirms commitment to sustainable environment at UNESCAP ministerial session



Sri Lanka has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to ensuring a sustainable environment and advancing climate resilience through regional cooperation, Deputy Minister of Environment Anton Jayakody said while addressing the 9th Session of the Committee on Environment and Development at the Ministerial Level organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

Representing Sri Lanka at the ministerial session in Bangkok, the Deputy Minister expressed the country's appreciation for the role played by the UNESCAP Secretariat in promoting sustainable development and climate action across the Asia-Pacific region.

He extended special thanks to the Secretariat for its efforts in implementing the Ministerial Declaration aimed at protecting the planet through enhanced regional cooperation and solidarity.

Addressing the forum on behalf of the Sri Lankan delegation, Jayakody reiterated Sri Lanka's commitment to working with regional partners to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development goals.

He stressed that collective action and strengthened partnerships remain essential to ensuring a clean, healthy and sustainable environment for future generations.
