NTC announces new bus fare hike effective July 6

Colombo, July 3 (Daily Mirror) - The National Transport Commission (NTC) has announced a revision of bus fares, which will come into effect from Monday (July 6).

Under the new structure, the minimum bus fare will increase from Rs. 30 to Rs. 34.

The revised fare structure sets a 12% increase for journeys up to 100 kilometres, while fares for distances exceeding 100 kilometres will be increased by 20%.

For luxury bus services, fares will also be revised upward, with a 12% increase for routes under 100 kilometres and a 15% increase for journeys over 100 kilometres.

The revision follows the agreement reached on adjusting passenger transport charges in line with operational cost changes, the NTC said.
