Colombo, July 2 (Daily Mirror) - Water supply to several parts of Colombo and surrounding suburbs will be temporarily suspended on Saturday (July 04) from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. (12 hours), the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced.
The interruption is due to essential maintenance work at the Mulleriyawa Substation of the power supply system, which will affect operations at the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant. In addition, improvement works at the Dehiwala Water Pumping Station and the Maligawatta Lighthouse Pumping Station will also contribute to the temporary disruption.
Areas affected by the suspension include Colombo 01 to 15, Battaramulla, Pelawatte, Hokandara, Koswatte, Thalawathugoda, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, Rajagiriya, Mirihana, Madiwela, Nugegoda, Nawala, Kolonnawa, IDH, Kotikawatte, Angoda, Wellampitiya, Orugodawatte, Kaduwela, Maharagama, Boralesgamuwa, and Piliyandala.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board urged residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the suspension period.
