Annually, there are over 100 people killed by elephants and those can be captured and domesticated, before being killed along with other male elephants which damage the properties of residents. It is the only practical solution as of now till the previous forests are given back to those creatures.

Rubbish. Move the humans and return the habitat that belongs to the elephants and other endangered species ASAP.

How can the highest statistic be 'unrecognisable'. Do we have competent Vets or not? Also, how many maimed elephants are suffering right now due to horrible measures used by humans to get rid of them? Elephants are here animals. The entire herd bears the pain of suffering and death of each other. We are causing collective trauma to the entire species in Sri Lanka.

@ Umar; Idea is good but must be practical. Will the pot minister submit a cabinet paper at your request and restore areas of development like Galoya, Mahaweli, Hingurana plantations, etc.? It won't.

If we don't stop the wanton destruction of our elephant population very soon we won't have have enough elephants even to parade at the Kandy Esala Perahera and earn tourist dollars which we need for our own survival. Man is so selfish that he only thinks about about himself and doesn't care about others or innocent animals
