Two tennis balls containing narcotics have been found when they were thrown into the Kandakadu Covid-19 treatment centre.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the tennis balls were found by military and prison personnel providing security at the treatment centre.
He said the tennis balls contained tobacco, a small quantity of heroin and cannabis.
“ This is the first time that such an incident has been reported at a treatment centre and that similar incidents had been reported before in the Welikada and Negombo Prisons on a number of occasions,” he said.
The spokesman said investigations had been launched by the Welikanda Police in that regard and that stern action will be taken against the perpetrators.
