Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) would support the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution as it was a progressive Amendment on the part of the people, former President Parliamentarian Maithripala Sirisena said yesterday.
Speaking during the debate on the 22nd Amendment, he told Parliament that they were voting for the Amendment not to strengthen the government.
“Some people may claim that we are voting for the Amendment to strengthen the government. We are voting for the Amendment only because it is a progressive Amendment on the part of the people,” he said.
