NPP-controlled Kolonne PS Budget defeated by one vote

The inaugural budget of the Kolonne Pradeshiya Sabha, governed by the National People’s Power (NPP), was defeated by a single vote during its budget debate held yesterday under the chairmanship of Sampath Ranasinghe.  

The NPP holds nine seats in the council, while the opposition commands a majority of ten members representing four different political parties.  

Following the debate, the opposition called for an open vote, during which all opposition members voted against the budget, resulting in its defeat by one vote.
