NPP PS member arrested for allegedly obstructing police



Police said that the Pradeshiya Sabha member had attempted to interfere with official duties and caused a disturbance inside the station

A member of the Hingurakgoda Pradeshiya Sabha representing the National People’s Power (NPP), Saman Udaya Kumara, has been arrested in connection with an incident in which he allegedly obstructed police officers at the Hingurakgoda Police Station.

According to police, the suspect had arrived at the station and behaved aggressively, accusing officers of wrongfully arresting his younger brother. The brother had been taken into custody the previous day for allegedly obstructing Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) employees who had visited his residence to disconnect the power supply.

Police said that the Pradeshiya Sabha member had attempted to interfere with official duties and caused a disturbance inside the station.

He was to be produced before the Hingurakgoda Magistrate.
