Opposition MP Chaminda Wijesiri, while firing allegations against ruling party members, said a certain deputy minister lives in an apartment valued Rs.500 million, and asked who donated it to him. However, he did not mention the deputy minister’s name.
He said this Deputy Minister had been retained by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) for court cases.
“How did this Deputy Minister purchase this apartment? Who had given him the apartment? Did Arjun Aloysius give him the apartment? , Or was it from another friend as rich as Arjun Aloysius?” he asked.
Also, he said there is another higher up in the government who frequently seeks commissions. “There is another minister who is involved in the unlawful clearing of containers. The subject of shipping has been taken away from him.
However, that would not make him innocent. Ruling party MPs cannot afford to talk of bond scam, sugar scam and coconut oil scam anymore,” he said.
Coming up with more allegations, the MP said some ministers in the government depend on some underworld figures, while others are arrested.
MP Wijesiri challenged the ruling party to table copies of MoUs that were signed with India in the recent past. “What did you promise India? Did you promise to hand over oil tanks? Reveal all details and table documents,” he said.
