The opposition yesterday came out with yet another serious allegation against Committee to Investigate Allegations on Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) Director General Ranga Dissanayake stating that his wife had worked for one time Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday Opposition MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake said that Director General Dissanayake, who now holds a senior post as DG, was overstepping his role by frequently appearing before the media. “Now, Mr. Ranga Dissanayake appears in the media as well. As a Director General, he should not be appearing in the media.”

Referring to the Central Bank bond scam involving former Governor Arjuna Mahendran, MP Dassanayake said; “Mr. Dissanayake should clarify who served as the Colombo Magistrate in 2017 and who approved the release of Arjuna Mahendran’s passport”.

He further alleged that both of Dissanayake’s first and second wives were employed at the Central Bank, and called for disclosure of the position held by his second wife under then Governor of CB Arjuna Mahendran.

“The people of this country have a right to know these facts. Those who hold high office must be transparent and beyond reproach before pointing fingers at others,” the MP added.

MP Dassanayake also noted that he currently faces three court cases, and anticipated receiving additional indictments following his latest statements. “I have no issue with that. The public deserves to know the truth,” he said.
