Arugam Bay assault case resolved, two Israeli nationals depart

Two Israeli nationals arrested in August for allegedly assaulting a hotel owner and his wife in Arugam Bay have left the country following an amicable settlement between the parties, police said.

The incident occurred when the couple, travelling in their vehicle, encountered two foreigners, both aged 26, who were obstructing the road. A heated argument reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving the victims with injuries that required hospital treatment.   Pottuvil Police had arrested the suspects at the time, and they were produced before  the court. However, following negotiations, both parties agreed to settle the matter, allowing the Israeli nationals to depart the country without further legal proceedings, a senior police officer told the Daily Mirror.
