Enough is enough. The government must stop dumping money into these outdated Leyland buses and finally give the people safe, reliable buses to travel in. Random checks on drivers are not optional—they’re a necessity. Outside Colombo, there should be inspections every 80–100 km, and inside Colombo at least every 20 km. Too many drivers are behind the wheel when they’re clearly unfit to drive, turning buses into moving death traps. We all see how recklessly they tear through the streets, as if the roads were gifted to them by their fathers. Every single day, lives are being gambled with. People’s safety cannot be treated as an afterthought—it’s time for real action, not excuses.
