A A A

The Road Development Authority’s new programme through which all zebra crossings in the country which have been painted in yellow would be painted white started yesterday.

According to the RDA, the zebra crossings would be changed in line with international standards as the white crossing can be seen more clearly, especially in the night. Pix by Nisal Baduge

May I suggest "Red" as it indicates danger.

Whatever the colour, motorists never stop for pedestrians to cross at the crossings and always stop their vehicles on the pedestrian crossings when waiting for traffic lights, thus not permitting the pedestrians to cross either. If a traffic fine is implemented for this, I am sure the government will earn thousands within 24 hours.
