Americans turned out in full force to mark 247 years of the Declaration of Independence on Tuesday - with millions braving intense heat and rain to celebrate.
The less-than-agreeable weather was felt in places such as New York - where rain put a pause to the famed Nathan's Fourth of July hot dog eating contest - as well as the Midwest, where storms threatened to drown out cookouts and firework shows.
That said, most processions moved forward without a hitch - gracing millions with glittering, patriotic displays, often in red-white-and-blue. (Daily Mail)

Thinking about this "independence" that cost so much suffering and lives of native Americans, I am proud of my King who sincerely apologized to the enslaved people and also asked for forgiveness. He and our president apologized also for our dark colonial past to Indonesia. But I don't understand why Sri Lanka is left out. Most people here don't even know that Sri Lanka was a Dutch colony. They only realise this when they visit Galle Fort, Negombo canals and Jaffna.

Until about 400 years ago, the Whites were living in their own part of the land called the Europe( only 20% of the land surface) and the Non-Whites were inhabiting in the rest of the vast land on this planet( what is now called Asia , Australia, Africa, North America, and South America ). How these Christian Whites with gun on one hand and the bible on the other, mercilessly decimated the Non Whites and took over their native lands in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand , and all small islands in Asia and Pacific.

America is a smart country, it takes all educated people from other parts of the world called developing countries and develops their country, these immigrants proudly say: "I am smart I got into America" and leave their homeland as a rubbish country, but who is smart?, in an example, Narendra Modi appreciate their countrymen in USA for their performance, but missed the point that their skills should be used in India's development
