To boost rural agriculture...

The Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, with the aim of strengthening the agricultural sector and developing the rural economy, has implemented the “A Thousand Agricultural Production Cooperatives” program.

On December 31, 2025, the program to provide tractors to various service cooperatives was carried out at the Sathosa premises on Vauxhall Street, Colombo.

This initiative, funded under the 2025 budget allocation for the “A Thousand Agricultural Production Cooperatives” program, provided seven tractors in total. The total value of the tractors is approximately Rs. 47 million (Rs. 46,875,500).
