In a remarkable milestone for Sri Lanka's railway history, a railway guard's compartment was transported from Kandy Railway Station to Peradeniya Railway Station without using railway tracks. The compartment was carefully loaded at Kandy, transported by road, and successfully unloaded at Peradeniya, marking what is believed to be the first operation of its kind in the country's railway history. The unique logistical exercise highlights the innovation and coordination involved in maintaining and upgrading Sri Lanka's railway infrastructure.
