An event was held to recognize the wards and units of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital for outstanding patient care under the Productivity, Quality, and Patient Safety Competition. We as a residents of Dehiwala, we have our own experienced that this the really best hospital, all Doctors, nurses, attendents, pharmacists, MLTs, security officers, even hospital Police and cleaning staffs are very kind. Okay well done. I have a comment here. How many developed and developing countries nurses in hospitals use white uniforms and white shoes with white socks. I have travelled to many countries where they use blue slacks and a blue shirt also they use sneakers . Then only they are more comfortable and will be able to handle the patients well. Even the doctors in those countries have similar uniform with different colours. We are still continuing uncomfortable white uniforms which started during the colonial time. The nurses in most of the countries abandoned these uniforms in the 1970s in an attempt to reduce the social barriers between nurses and patients.

Recognition is good but what are the statistics available to show this achievement to the public? Where others have failed to meet the benchmark what is being planned to improve? Sad good effort.goes.to.waste and the public is not aware...

Kalubovila hospitals know for quality care and - Please keep it up - Its important educate what is QHSE for all staff and build the mentality- Q - Quality, H - Health , S - Saftey and E - Enviornment- There are software applications to comply - I am not sure they maintain electroic patient record which is fundenmemtal for Quality care
