SLIM Toastmasters Club holds 7th installation ceremony

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) Toastmasters Club conducted its seventh installation ceremony for the year 2015/2016 with a glamorous event at Hotel Taj Samudra recently. The ‘Unite to Thrive’ is the year’s theme, initiated by its new President Toastmaster Hasalaka De Silva.

The SLIM Toastmasters Club was founded in 2008, when the employees and members of SLIM embarked on a mission to harness the power of effective public speaking for personal and professional advancement, becoming part of the world’s leading communication and leadership-skill building organisation.
The installation ceremony was an entertaining and colourful event which included inspiring speeches before an audience of eminent Toastmasters and distinguished guests. 

“Over the years I have seen many talented students and marketers who have possessed the skills to be good marketers, but simply lacked adequate communication abilities to succeed in today’s competitive environment. SLIM Toastmasters Club will no doubt add value in the development of communication skills and personality development of those potential marketers,” said the chief guest of the event, SLIM President Ruwan Liyanagamage. 
Speeches made by of the guest of honour, Distinguished Toastmaster Arunasalam Balraj, First Vice President of Toastmasters International and the special invitee, Distinguished Toastmaster Sudash Liyanage, Quality Director of District 82 of Toastmasters International, inspired the audience.

“With the wonderful experience during the last four years with SLIM Toastmasters, I realized that good teams become great when members trust each other enough to surrender the word ‘ME’ for the word ‘WE’. I understood how important it is to ensure unity among members for us to succeed. That’s why I came up with this theme ‘Unite to Thrive’ for the Toastmaster year 2015/16. I’m sure all of us will thrive beyond horizons with SLIM Toastmasters Club,” said newly-appointed SLIM Toastmasters Club President Hasalaka De Silva. 

Toastmaster Harshan Senadhira of SLIM Toastmasters Club was awarded the ‘Outstanding Toastmaster of the Division J’ accolade for 20014/2015.
The Master of Ceremonies was Toastmaster Jacintha Mani ably assisted by Toastmaster Harshan Senadhira.

The new office bearers of the SLIM Toastmasters Club were installed by Toastmaster Charitha Jayasinghe, Past President of SLIM Toastmasters Club, Past Area Governor, Past Assistant Lieutenant Marketing District 82. The newly-elected Executive Committee comprises of Hasalaka De Silva (President), Jacintha Mani (Vice President - Education), Harshan Senadheera (Vice President - Membership), Subodha Meepage (Vice President - Public Relations), Sashika Manamperi (Secretary), Farhan Immamudeen (Treasurer) and Nuwan Ratnayake (Sergeant-at-Arms).
