March tourist arrivals rose 18 percent year-on-year (yoy) to 157, 051 amid higher number of tourists from Western Europe, China and India, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau Chairman Rohantha Athukorale said.
The cumulative arrivals for the first quarter of 2015 rose 13.6 percent yoy to 478, 838.
Cumulative arrivals from Western Europe increased 17.7 percent yoy to 169, 330 with visitors from the UK growing 14.8 percent, Germany 17.5 percent and France 12.6 percent.
Arrivals from China during the first quarter surged 84.5 percent while visitors from Sri Lanka’s number one source market rose 19.6 percent yoy.
