Highways Ministry launches rural road rehabilitation project

The Highways and Investment Promotion Ministry, under the patronage of Minister Kabir Hashim, launched an islandwide rehabilitation project of the rural road network. 

Several new road projects were unveiled by the minister yesterday in the Kegalle District and more such projects will be unveiled around the country in the coming days.

Under this new programme, every electorate has been allocated Rs.30 million to build the necessary roads and repair those that require them. 

The aim behind this project is to reconnect the rural and urban centres with one another through a well-built and maintained road network.
