Alpha Industries, one of the leading furniture manufacturers in Sri Lanka and a subsidiary of Finco group, celebrated its 52nd anniversary at the “Alpha Day” event organized at their Mattegoda factory premises recently.
Alpha Day is an annual event organized by the company to commemorate and pay respects to the founding fathers of Alpha Industries. The day is celebrated by bringing together all Alpha employees, providing them the platform to interact with each other and build relationships with team members in other factories and departments in a fun, informal environment.
During the event the most outstanding employees across various categories ranging from “Best innovation” to “Best attendance” were recognized for their consistent performances and extraordinary efforts during the year. An assortment of fun activities that encouraged the participation of employees was also put together with winners being presented with valuable gifts.
Commenting on this year’s Alpha Day, Priyanjith Weerasooria Managing Director of Alpha stated, “The Alpha Day has always been the most important day of the year for the Alpha family. It is the day where we all look back at how far we have progressed as an organization from our inception back in 1963. It is also a day where we get together as one large family, irrespective of designations or departments and learn to understand, appreciate and recognize every member of the Alpha family. Over the years, this special day has helped bring people closer together and I am happy to say that this togetherness has translated into a more positive and inspiring work environment during the rest of the year.”
Mr. Safraz Careem, Director Sales and Marketing stated, “Alpha Industries has come a long way since its inception. For the past 52 years, the company has run a successful concept in manufacturing security, steel products and office furniture. Every one of you here is part of the process that makes us the best in the industry and I hope you will take this opportunity to strengthen the bond between each other. “
Alpha Industries was established in 1963 as Sri Lanka’s pioneer manufacturer of steel wardrobes and tables and today manufactures a wide variety of office furniture including chairs, tables, cupboards and reception counters. For over half a century Alpha has also excelled as the market leader for a wide range of security solutions (for physical storage) from home use to bank vaults and is currently considered the market leader for security safes.
The company recently ventured into the home furniture industry as a solution to a gap that long existed in the market where the consumers had to pay huge amounts for high quality furniture. The Alpha Home Furniture Range primarily consists of 3 types of furniture - Living Room Furniture, Dining Room Furniture and Bedroom Furniture. Alpha Home range furniture comes in a variety of unique designs and provides high-quality finishing as well as value for money. All Alpha showrooms offer a wide range of ready-made furniture items that are produced using materials such as Melamine, Veneer boards, Teak, Mahogany and other types of Solid Wood.
The company operates 3 state-of-the-art factories and employs approximately 650 employees. Alpha showrooms are located in Colombo, Nawala, Maharagama, Gampaha, Negombo, Kurunegala, Kandy, Panadura, Rathnapura, Matara and Jaffna. The company also has over 47 dealer points island-wide.
