Sri Lanka’s largest cake made with Pelwatte Butter



Pelwatte Dairy announced that it is the main sponsor of Sri Lanka’s Largest Cake event, a noteworthy and historic endeavor put together by Swarnawahini in association with Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM). 
This one-of-a-kind occasion, which took place on December 31, 2024, united local cooks andartists to produce a huge cake that has now earned a spot in the national record books.
Pelwatte Dairy, a company that takes pride in its high standards and commitment to the community, was instrumental in making this event a success. The cake was prepared using Pelwatte Butter, which is renowned for its exceptional taste and texture, demonstrating its adaptability in producing dishes of the highest caliber. The butter used in the cake was made from Pelwatte Dairy’s fresh, 100 percent locally sourced milk, making the event not only a celebration of creativity but also a testament to the value and quality of locally sourced ingredients.
The occasion promoted the value of assisting regional farmers while showcasing Sri Lanka’s diverse culinary customs. The event’s aim of showcasing Sri Lanka’s finest regional ingredients is ideally aligned with Pelwatte Dairy Industries Limited’s dedication to using fresh milk from Sri Lankan farmers. This initiative demonstrates Pelwatte Dairy’s commitment to enhancing the dairy sector in Sri Lanka and offering consumers wholesome, high quality dairy products.

This remarkable creation, crafted with the expertise of 41 local chefs under the leadership of Chef Pamal Pinidiya, was unveiled in a grand ceremony graced by local dignitaries and artists. The cake weighs an impressive 850 kilograms and 455 grams, measures 12 meters and 81 centimeters in length, 8 centimeters in height, and 1 meter and 12 centimeters in width.


After the celebration, the cake was shared with various institutions, including charitable organizations and dedicated members of government defense sectors, spreading joy and gratitude across the community. The entire process was carefully monitored by officials from Serendib World Records, ensuring it met strict hygiene standards and was safe for everyone to enjoy.
