Sheamalee Wickramasingha takes helm as CBL Chairperson

CBL Investments Limited (CBL Group) has appointed Group Managing Director Sheamalee Wickramasingha as Chairperson with effect from 6 July, while retaining her current role as Group Managing Director.

She succeeds the late Ramya Wickramasingha, who had served as Chairman since 2015.

The appointment extends the leadership of the founding family at the diversified food manufacturing group established in 1968 by the late Mineka Wickramasingha. 

Sheamalee, a food technologist by profession and the founder’s eldest daughter, joined Ceylon Biscuits Limited in 1991 and has spent more than three decades in leadership positions across the group.

She joined the board in 1996 and has served as Group Managing Director for over a decade, overseeing the company’s local and international expansion, product innovation and long-term growth strategy.

Wickramasingha holds a Master of Science degree in Food Chemistry from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Industry from Kansas State University in the United States.
