SLSBC elects new leadership at 28th AGM



 SLSBC Executive Committee 2025/2026

The 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sri Lanka–Singapore Business Council (SLSBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce was held recently, with the participation of Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest.

At the meeting, Janaka Gunasekera, Deputy Managing Director of A. Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, was elected President of the SLSBC for the term 2025–2026.

In his inaugural remarks, Gunasekera noted that the Council intends to organize a business promotion mission to Singapore, conduct sector-specific roundtables, and hold business forums on timely themes such as digital transformation and sustainability. 

He further highlighted plans for networking evenings and capacity-building workshops for SMEs and exporters in collaboration with Singaporean institutions. Emphasizing the Council’s commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties, he underscored the importance of engaging with government and policy stakeholders to create a more conducive environment for bilateral business relations.

The new leadership team for the year 2025/2026 was also confirmed at the AGM. Tilak Gunawardana, Group Director and Chief Financial Officer of MAC Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, was elected Senior Vice President, while Nirupa Peiris, General Manager of Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC, was elected Vice President. The position of Treasurer was filled by Jerome Brohier of Aitken Spence Cargo (Pvt) Ltd.

The committee for the new term comprises Air Global (Pvt) Ltd, Ceylon Grain Elevators Ltd, CIC Holdings PLC, Just In Time Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, Kalhari Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd, Spillburg Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, and Vaughan Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd. 

Outgoing President Shiluka Goonawardena will continue to serve on the committee as Immediate Past President. In addition, Dr. Lakith Peiris, Managing Director of Hemas Hospitals, and Suhayl Sangani, Director of Sales and Marketing at Ceylon Jewelry Manufacturers, were invited to serve on the committee.
