JAAF welcomes government’s swift actions on US reciprocal tariff impact

The Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) yesterday commended the Sri Lankan government for its prompt response in establishing a working group to assess the economic impact of the reciprocal tariff imposed by the United States.

As the apex body representing both large and small players in the textile and apparel industry, the JAAF said it fully supports this initiative and is honoured to contribute to the discussions.

The committee, which includes key industry stakeholders, is currently formulating a strategic plan to mitigate the potential disruptions. This plan is to be presented to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Given the urgency of the situation, swift and decisive action is critical to safeguard Sri Lanka’s apparel sector and broader economic stability.

The JAAF said it is confident that with the leadership and support of Dissanayake, timely decisions would be made to address this challenge and ensure the continued resilience of the industry.
