The ASPI closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Commercial Bank, Tokyo Cement Company and Lanka IOC with the turnover crossing Rs. 5.0 bn.
A similar behavior was witnessed in the S&P SL20. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Hatton National Bank, Lanka IOC and John Keells Holdings. Mixed interest was observed in ACL Cables, Sampath Bank and Browns Investments whilst retail interest was noted in Panasian Power, LOLC Finance and LVL Energy Fund.
Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net buyers. The Banking sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Hatton National Bank) whilst the sector index gained 0.59%. The share price of Hatton National Bank decreased by Rs. 1.50 (0.46%) to close at Rs. 328.00.
Capital Goods sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to John Keells Holdings and ACL Cables) whilst the sector index decreased by 0.18%. The share price of John Keells Holdings moved down by Rs. 0.10 (0.42%) to close at Rs. 23.90.
The share price of ACL Cables recorded a gain of Rs. 4.50 (3.75%) to close at Rs. 124.50. Lanka IOC and Dialog Axiata were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Lanka IOC gained Rs. 3.25 (2.55%) to close at Rs. 130.75. The share price of Dialog Axiata appreciated by Rs. 0.10 (0.83%) to close at Rs. 12.20.
