Freight Forwarders hold 44th AGM

The Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders Association (SLFFA) held its 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) recently.

The event was graced by Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Deputy Minister for Ports and Shipping, as Chief Guest, and Admiral (Rtd) Sirimevan Ranasinghe, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), as Guest of Honour.

Also present were SLFFA Vice Chairman Andre Fernando and Treasurer Shavindra Dias, alongside members of the Association and distinguished industry leaders.

In his address, the Chairman emphasized two urgent priorities for Sri Lanka’s logistics future. The first was the need to expedite infrastructure development at the Colombo Port, including the Multi-Country Consolidation (MCC) facility, and to accelerate the airport expansion project. Both are critical to meeting the growing demand for air freight, enhancing Sea & Air and transshipment capabilities, and positioning Colombo as a competitive logistics hub.

The second priority was the acceleration of digitalization initiatives, including community systems and the National Single Window (NSW). These, he stressed, are essential to streamline customs processes, reduce delays, and enable faster, more efficient cargo clearance.
