Foundation.LK, a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to equipping Sri Lankans with the knowledge, skills and resources to navigate the digital world safely and confidently, officially launched its latest initiative, the DiGiSavi project, at the SLFI Auditorium.

The initiative aims to promote responsible digital citizenship while unlocking opportunities in an increasingly digital society.

The launch event marked a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s journey toward inclusive digital empowerment, bringing together key stakeholders, partners and community representatives whose collective efforts have made this initiative a reality.

DiGiSavi is a nationwide initiative powered by Foundation.LK, designed to empower communities through digital skills development, access to services, cybersafety awareness and innovation.

Through a growing network of 50 DiGiSavi Centres recognised by Foundation.LK, the project focuses on bridging the digital divide, particularly at the grassroots level by ensuring equitable access to digital opportunities across the country.

Addressing the gathering, Digital Economy Ministry Secretary Waruna Sri Dhanapala, emphasised the timely relevance of the project, noting its potential to enhance digital literacy and empower Sri Lankan communities through emerging technologies, including AI.

Domain Registrar and LK Domain Registry CEO Prof. Gihan Dias reflected on the origins of the initiative and its evolution under the LK Domain Registry.

Project Manager Gayani Perera provided an overview of the DiGiSavi initiative, outlining its objectives, implementation approach and the impact it aims to create across communities nationwide.

A special highlight of the event was the recognition of the DiGiSavi Centres, each of which were present received a Certificate of Recognition along with official DiGiSavi branding items. This gesture acknowledged their commitment and readiness to serve as key touchpoints in delivering digital empowerment at community level.

Finally, Foundation.LK CEO Niroja Jayawickrama expressed appreciation to all attendees, partners and DiGiSavi Centre representatives who had travelled from across many parts of the country.

A key highlight of the launch was the announcement of DiGiSavi’s ambitious national target to reach one million beneficiaries across Sri Lanka through its DiGiSavi Centres. This bold goal reflects a strong commitment to ensuring that digital transformation is inclusive, accessible and meaningful for communities in every region.

The official website www.digisavi.lk was also launched at the event, providing a platform for information, engagement and future expansion.
