Fitch Ratings yesterday announced the appointment of Charana Jayasuriya as Head of Fitch Ratings Lanka Ltd (Fitch Lanka), effective immediately.
Based in Colombo, Jayasuriya will be responsible for managing Fitch’s national and international ratings business in the country. He will jointly report to Fitch Ratings Asia-Pacific Head of Business Management Kwong Li and Asia-Pacific Head of Business Development Sing Chan Ng.
Jayasuriya has 25 years’ experience across the capital markets of Sri Lanka and the UK, spanning credit ratings, capital markets, asset management, debt markets, regulation and governance, including serving as CEO of Innovest Investments (Pvt.) Ltd, Lanka Rating Agency Limited and National Asset Management Limited.
He succeeds Maninda Wickramasinghe, who retired in January 2026 after 16 years at Fitch.
Fitch Lanka is the largest credit ratings agency in the country, rating more than 90 percent of domestic issuers. It was set up in 1999, at the invitation of the International Finance Corporation and Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
