Feb. tourist arrivals cross 44,000 mark in five days



Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka crossed the 44,000 mark within the first five days in February, provisional data from Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) showed.

The island nation welcomed a total of 44, 293 international visitors, a 20 percent increase when compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. This brings the total arrivals for 2025 so far to 297, 054. 

The daily arrival average has increased to 8,858 visitors.

India accounted for the largest tourist traffic, bringing in 5, 823 (13.1 percent) of the total arrivals. The Russian Federation followed closely behind with 5,795 arrivals (13.1 percent). The United Kingdom ranked as the third largest tourist traffic generator, accounting for 10.6 percent (4, 710) of the total arrivals.

China and Germany rank in fourth and fifth place, contributing to 7 percent and 7.2 percent of the total arrivals.
