The European Union has assured the GSP Plus tariff concession for Sri Lanka till 2023, according to a media communiqué by the Industrial Export, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Ministry.
European Union Deputy Head of Mission, Sri Lanka and Maldives and Head of Political, Trade and Communication Section, Thorsten Bargfrede, had said that the tariff concession will be continued till 2023 without any changes to its monitoring mechanism.
This was communicated to Industrial Export, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga when European Union representatives met minister Ranatunga at his ministry recently.
During the meeting, the minister was informed by the EU delegation of the keenness shown by European investors to invest in Sri Lanka.
The delegation had also requested the minister to resume SriLankan Airlines services to European destinations.
