As a strategic step towards developing a mechanism to address the challenges in the export value chain, the Export Development Board (EDB) has established a Trade Facilitation Task Force, which held its second networking session yesterday at the Export Development Board (EDB).
The event was attended by EDB Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mangala Wijesinghe, EDB Acting Director General Erandika Dissanayaka, Acting Additional Director General Development Kumuduni Mudalige, government officials nominated by the respective institutions to the Trade Facilitation Task Force and other officials including the directors of the EDB.
The task force comprises representatives from 38 public sector institutions that facilitate international trade. Its primary objective is to identify the operational challenges faced by the exporters and find effective solutions, with the aim of addressing these challenges in the shortest possible time.
Through this networking session, the EDB seeks to streamline the trade processes, improve export efficiency and foster collaboration among institutions to support the country’s economic growth. By minimising trade barriers and enhancing cooperation among all government institutions, the exporters will be empowered to increase their competitiveness in global markets.
This collaborative effort is expected to provide the exporters with better access to information, resources and solutions to optimise their operations, ultimately generating higher export revenue for the country.
