DFCC ONE, DFCC Bank’s flagship mobile banking application, is setting a new standard for digital banking in Sri Lanka.

A pioneer in digital innovation, DFCC bank has reimagined banking to enhance convenience, security and accessibility. Built on real customer insights and cutting-edge technology, DFCC ONE consolidates simplicity, security and personalisation into one dynamic platform.

Omar Sahib, Vice President and Chief Digital Officer, discusses the market gaps DFCC ONE aims to bridge, its defining features and role in shaping Sri Lanka’s digital banking future.

The platform enters the market at a time when digital banking is a necessity, not a luxury. “While DFCC ONE is already robust, we have an ambitious roadmap of innovations in the pipeline. Our goal is to set the benchmark for digital banking in Sri Lanka,” Omar explains.

Beyond facilitating transactions, DFCC ONE is designed to improve financial literacy. “We want to engage and educatecustomers, empowering them with the financial knowledge to make informed decisions,” he adds.

Many banks claim to lead in innovation, but DFCC Bank positions itself differently. “Our ambition is to be the most customer-centric bank and the easiestto work with. Accessibility is therefore key and our innovation is driven by customer needs, not industry trends,” Omar says.

DFCC ONE integrates lifestyle elements that address customer pain points. The app is also aligned with Sri Lanka’s Digital Roadmap and supports national objectives. Omar notes: “We have a responsibility to facilitate the adoption of new technologies and ensure our customers keep pace with the rapidly advancing world.”

The platform introduces several refinements, including the ability to make bill payments using DFCC credit cards –previously limited to current and savings accounts through the Virtual Wallet. “While other banks offer this feature, we have expanded payment options beyond standard utility bills,” Omar notes further.

Security, often seen as a trade-off against convenience, remains a core focus. “Security and convenience are not mutually exclusive, they should complement each other,”Omarasserts.

Inspired by global technology leaders, the app integrates biometric authentication and one-time password (OTP) based verification, with plans to introduce further multi-factor authentication techniques. “Customers expect robust security and a seamless experience - we aim to deliver both,” states Omar.

Customer input played a key role in the development of DFCC ONE. “Key concerns were ease of use and expanding payment options. Just Pay, one of our most anticipated features, is set to launch soon,”Omarreveals. DFCC bank gathers feedback through surveys, direct engagement and analytics toensure the app evolveswith customer expectations.

A defining attribute is DFCC ONE’s ability to personalise the banking experience. “Customisation allows customers to tailor interactions to their needs,”Omar explains.

Key features include peek balance to check account balances without logging in, biometric authentication using fingerprint or facial recognition, ePassbook to view real-time account statements, choice of OTP preferences, credit card bill payments and fund transfer limit customisation. DFCC Bank communicates these features through push notifications, email marketing and social media campaigns.

Looking ahead, DFCC ONE is set to expand beyond traditional banking. “Our vision is to integrate more lifestyle features that extend beyond transactions,” Omar says.

The app will evolve to help customers manage personal finances with greater convenience.“Weare building a trusted financial partner for our customers. Through innovation, DFCC ONE will redefine digital banking, one tap at a time,” he concludes.
