Amendments to Economic Transformation Act coming up
The government aims to implement the Economic Transformation Act with proposed amendments to attract more investments, President Dissanayake said on Monday.
“The BOI has failed to perform efficiently, as reflected by the FDI data. So we need to create a new environment,” he said.
“We have proposed some amendments to this Act. With these added, we plan to implement the Economic Transformation Act soon,” he said, without specifying a timeline.
Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Sri Lanka has lagged in recent years amid economic challenges, prompting the government to reassess its investment framework.
