That is when men become greedy, or gutless cowards.
Some men will stoop to any level to get the goodies.

what about human rights rank?? anyone knows what is the rank of SL??

    Katussa Wednesday, 13 October 2010 01:51 PM

Quite true, Vasuki but how come then that there are not enough women ministers in Parliament?

    Suba Wednesday, 13 October 2010 05:10 AM

We were 12th in 2008, 16th in 2009 and 16th this year. Retaining the position is not good enough. Sri Lanka is doing well, but can do better in this field.

i like to see some positive comments about sri lanka every morning. god bless our motherland.

    RationalThinker Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:23 PM

maybe because the women know better than to join the scum? :)

    RationalThinker Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:26 PM

the USA is one of the most racist "developed" countries around. it's extremely intolerant.
anyway, i thought sri lanka has no majority or minority? :) we're all sri lankans

Top Sri Lankan Wednesday, 13 October 2010 06:37 AM

It is the other way in Sri Lanka , men are discriminated as the women are on top, hehehe.

    Manaf Tuesday, 12 October 2010 05:38 PM

It is when you travel out of Sri Lanka that you will realise how much we care about gender equality in our country and how much freedom that our women have. We are one of the highest in Human Development Index.

Plain Talking Wednesday, 13 October 2010 06:42 AM

Education is the key and that is what empowering our women more than anything else. Srilankans parents are keen to educate their children of either sex and I believe the education system slightly favours the girls.

    Mushi Wednesday, 13 October 2010 10:57 AM

Yes, we excel because sometimes empowered women dominate and rule over men in Lanka...

    upul Wednesday, 13 October 2010 11:01 AM

always do not look negative side, if there is a good thing, be happy about Ur nation..

    Vasuki Wednesday, 13 October 2010 01:07 AM

Yes. Its true. We don't don't have much geneder descrimination in Srilanka even when we compare it with developed countries. We have to be proud about it.

    saas Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:02 AM

It is better that we think.......

    manel Tuesday, 19 October 2010 10:48 AM

WE Have to go long way to enjoy happines of equality and equity.

    sltk2004 Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:28 AM

But we have a high level of discrimination based on some other factors.

    chami Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:31 AM

Yes we can be proud. However the Distressing conditions our women go through in Middle Eastern countries is an embarrassment.

    Dinesh Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:35 AM

    Good move by Srilanka.

    Malin Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:49 AM

It is worth while having a index for minority empowerment. SL will well here as well. Much better than most developed countries. USA I was surprised to find was very racial despite the preaching to others.

    N. Komali Wednesday, 13 October 2010 04:03 AM

This index may have boosted over some countries due to the fact that women have ruled SL for around 23 years after independence other than something very special over the year.
