World Bank President David Malpass and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said there was a growing risk of global recession, with inflation remaining a continuing problem after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“There’s a risk and real danger of a world recession next year,” Malpass said in a dialogue with Georgieva at the start of the annual meetings of the two institutions. He cited slowing growth in advanced economies and currency depreciation in many developing countries.

Georgieva said the IMF saw “a significant problem” in China, the world’s second largest economy, where volatility was dragging down growth. (Money Web)

Talk of impending catastrophe is common nowadays. We've got more real problems than worry about world recession next year. The US and European sanctions against Russia weren't thought through for all the trouble even for those countries doing the sanctions, let alone innocent bystander like us who suffer even more. If continued arm supplies by the West happen to Ukraine and if Russia starts using nuclear weapons to break the impasse what are the consequences for work economy then? How much more worse problem can happen to economically suffering us? Could it even be turning point for us, when a potential quick end to the war, like Japan capitulated once bombed twice with nuclear?

I am very much disturbed and perturbed by the passiveness and tantamount "acceptance of Russian invasion", without RHYME OR REASON of a NEIGHBOURING SOVEREIGN STATE, who had been an ally all that time until the invasion - to satisfy RUSSIAN EXPANSIONISM!!?? You would have been happy if none helped Sri Lanka, to "fight separatist terrorists, to avoid consequential economic disaster and downturn"?? Some claim, present Bankruptcy in SL, due entirely to ‘30 year war’ and not “financial Mismanagement by the Messiah and the powers that be”?? Wonder, what would MaRa, Gota and SF done in that scenario??? Get real!!??

Yes, Sri Lankan people's acceptance of Russian invasion and blaming the West shows a very poor level of consciousness in the country. People literally love rogues and dictators and criminals in this country.

No to UNHRC /They advocate the use of nuclear weapons??? The whole world should condemn the barbaric war that Russia is waging against Ukraine
