Vulnerable people still refuse vaccines, leading to a sharp rise in deaths: Health Ministry

Demand for Pfizer vaccine on the wane

While saying that the demand for Pfizer vaccine has fairly gone down, the Health Ministry said the vulnerable people still forgo vaccines resulting in number of deaths going up at present.

Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath told media briefing today that it is alarming that vulnerable and high-risk people were not interested in getting the vaccine.

“We have not been able to bring the number of fatalities under control due to people in high-risk groups forgoing the vaccine,” he underscored.

Thus, he urged high-risk people to get the vaccine without further delay in order to bring down the number of deaths.

Moreover, Dr. Herath said the demand for Pfizer vaccine was extremely higher when it was not available in the country; however, the demand for Pfizer sees a downward trend, despite adequate stocks in hand at present.

“The reason for this could be attributed to fake and misleading stories surface about the vaccine which discourage people to get them” he added. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

The booster shot is not clear. Some medical experts are saying it should be administered after 6 months from the 2nd dose. Some are saying it has repercussions if administered early. As usual people are confused. The Govt should clear the air.

Also that old farth Tissa Vitharana claims that Pfizer is harmful. So what do they expect from people when even the health"experts" provide fake news?

I too would like the health authorities to clarify the matter raised by Joshua.

People, open your eyes. This is genocide. Look at the situation in Israel and Ireland. The majority of people were vaccinated and more cases were diagnosed than a year ago. People die after the vaccine. Don't do this.

It's can't be fack vaccines, when the number of death go up may be the reason difference can't be false on corona vaccines, have to understand !!!

    European Wednesday, 24 November 2021 09:20 PM

To Polonia : if the people here were not vaccinated at all it would have been a complete disaster. Don't be so stubborn and stupid, get yourself vaccinated.

Pzifer booster is not safe as primary doses are not mRNA type could show harmful side effects or either it will a incomplete dose worth no use

Prof. Tissa Vtharna, virologist's opinion has always been correct. No guarantee means lay men vacilate. Fully vaccinated too has succumbed to covid 19.

To European- A complete disaster is just unraveling if you care to look at the data. Polonia has a valid point. Some high level experts in mRNA technology warned of the possibility of ADE (Antibody Dependent Enhancement) which could worsen the pandemic. The same is valid for you: "Don't be so stubborn and stupid, get yourself (educated)."

The people are bombarded with a regular dose of doom and gloom so much so that the people now think; 'what the hell, let the Fourth Horseman ride over them'!!!

I have Pfizer vaccine, two doses.I'm healthy and will go for booster for sure. Unfortunately genocide is for unvaccinated people who are iresponsible. There is no reason not to be vaccinated. Sad that people don't use their brains in these situation.
