Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the abduction, torture and nailed to a cross of two persons in a highly torturous manner for sharing a defamation post against an individual on Facebook.
The STF personnel in Kandy arrested he suspects along with five swords.
The Balagolla Police have launched an investigation after the two victims were abducted and tortured by nailing to a cross by the suspect along with several others on June 25.
According to the police, the main suspect, a 30-year-old man named Dushmantha, who runs a devalaya in Ampitiya and another area.
The two residents, one a 44-year-old man from Polgolla while the other, a 38-year-old resident of Bomiriya, Kaduwela who had gone through this excruciating experience are currently receiving treatment at the Kandy Hospital.
The arrested suspects were handed over to the Kandy Police, the STF said.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
