Three underage couples arrested for engaging in sex while saying they were at tuition classes

Three underage couples have been taken into custody by the Kuliyapitiya Police after they were found to be staying in hotel rooms engaging in sex, while informing their parents that they were participating in tution classes.

Police said the raid was carried out based on information that underage couples were staying in lodges skipping tution classes.

During the raid, the police also arrested four women engaged in prostitution.

The police raided the hotels following a court order.

The children were warned and were released after their parents were summoned to the police.

Police also issued a notice to the management of the lodges for allowing underage couples in their rooms.

The four women arrested over prostitution will be produced in court, police said.

So what was against Sri Lankan law? That the youngsters skipped their tution classes or that they had sex? In developed countries neither is punishable. When will Sri Lanka emerge from the Middle Ages and become a modern and tolerant country? Why were the 4 women arrested? Prostitution is not prohibited in Sri Lanka. Only running a brothel is forbidden. However, according to this report, the raid was in hotels. Does the judge who issued the warrant not know the laws?

Where does it say the children were punished? They were warned, but nothing further other than their parents made aware. Sri Lankan can leave it's defunct heritage when the citizens want do that. Buddhism is protected in the Constitution, which a greater cancer for society than any ills caused by the last ten amendments to the Constitution. Sri Lanka cannot be saved until the citizens become less interested in religion. Of course the religious groups have material/monetary interest to keep the masses keep donating like the ignorant in the middle ages.

When the girl is soliciting the boy, prosecuting the boy will harm both in the long run. You seem to lose sight of the fact the whole point of the law is for protecting, not harming for sake of the law! There is enough corruption in our nation which gets overlooked, so this is nothing to complain about, that is utterly disgusting to seek harm on the youngsters for the sake of the law/Constitution.

My question is that say they are O/L students. What if they become 18n or 19n? Can they do it? It is the sole problem of our education system. Free school where both opposite sex can get introduced themselves. And then they will give birth a child in Free hospital. And then get free nourishment to the child. When the child grow do the same……. The tuition class system has to abolish except language and computer or technical education. Instead, students must be motivated to work and earn while studying. Student must be educated about the seriousness of having sex. The sex related disease, pregnancy, healthy sex etc. The more younger they start having sex the more quicker they appear old and lose their beauty and attractiveness.

Come daily mirror rather than reporting do some journalists work, the real question is what law these youngsters and sex workers break to get arrested? 1. Since non of the youngsters were charged with Statutory rape, I can assume they are above 16 which makes us wonder why they were arrested and also under what chargers they were arrested, this arrest is a clear violation of fundamental rights of an individual.. these youngsters should file case against the police in supreme courts. 2. Sex worker, what charges were they arrested under? According to law sex workers are legal but its illegal to run a brothel . Technically police and judge has missed use their authority and journalist in our country has no clue what to report and how to report...shame on you dailymirror.

Your report is full of contradiction. You say underaged students were engaged in sex in hotels, instead of going for tuition class. Then you say four women were charged for engaging in Prostitution. Are you trying to say that prostitutes are underaged girls? Have we advanced so much? In the middle east, girls are breaking records in education on worldwide competition. So, do our girls are trying break some records? Of course they have patrons in high places.
