Health authorities warned that there was a threat of a vaccine center coronavirus cluster emerging in the country.
Health Promotion Bureau Director, Dr. Dinesh Koggalage said that people gathering in large numbers at vaccination centers, had posed a threat of a new cluster emerging.
“We see some people storming centers to get vaccinated. They must understand that this could result in a new cluster emerging,” Koggalage told reporters.
He urged the public to only visit the vaccination centers in their respective areas and not outside.
“If not you may get the virus before you are vaccinated,” he said.
A mass vaccination program is currently underway using the Sinopharm and Sputnik V vaccine.
Large number of people have turned up at vaccination centers in the Western Province over the past few days to get their first jab.
Dr. Dinesh Koggalage also said that people placed under isolation must not attempt to visit a vaccination center.
The Health Promotion Bureau also advised mothers who have received the Sinopharm vaccine and are breastfeeding, to continue breastfeeding. (EASWARAN RUTNAM)

It’s sad to see, how people are behaving in this manner even after knowing the gravity of the situation.

Why the health officer can't be bringing to vaccines each home

The whole vaccination program is a mess. In the area where I am registered as a voter in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia and the vacation was done on a area/garamasewaka division. It was somewhat orderly although there was a few VIP and chits. Not as bad as what we see on TV..

About vaccination and lines, when and where was Nandasena, Mahinda and family vaccinated. What was the vaccine used. Tell us.

Like I say , the stupidity, selfishness prevails in this country. Me first is the motto here. In other civilised countries people form a queue properly and no one controls them. Here , you need at least few policemen to control a queue and prevent queue jumpers. Then you see some VIPs going straight to the front.

Why not implement NID odd and even number system for the vaccination drive as well? It will definitely have an effect because the queue will be reduced to half.

Why blame the public. There is an awareness among our people on being vaccinated and so the interest. Can't it be better organised.

Whose fault it is .?
In an orderly manner please Tuesday, 18 May 2021 08:32 AM
Vaccination drive is an utter chaos. Please do not let people gather near gates and doors of the vaccination centres. The number of vaccines available should match the number of people waiting.

Result of mismanagement. Vaccination programs should be programmed such that thousands do not flock at any one time. Proper system required
Chinthaka Tuesday, 18 May 2021 08:37 AM
Why don’t you plan it better so that people don’t have to storm in. Study how other countries are doing and do at least fraction of it. Fault is not with people for storming. Fault is with you not planning and implementing a better procedure. At least give appointments or for the very least assign as per ID numbers

Yes there us a threat. What health officers or related parties has to do a system to be developed so that people in the country knows when they received vaccine. This can be done by taking voters list and with a sms they will be notified the date time and where the vaccination taken place. Instead they health authority just an-ounce the day and place. Panic people cluster around the place. Thus a sad state of our country. We just blame to politicians . Politicians should blame for not getting enough stock of vaccine.

The officials are tellingvus that there is an issue. We want them to give us a solution not inform us about the issue. Have an online / sms booking system will mitigate the issue.
