Shashi Weerawansa sentenced to two years imprisonment

Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today imposed a two-years-rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 100,000 on Shashi Weerawansa, the wife of National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader and former Minister Wimal Weerawansa.

This is over an incident where Mrs. Weerawansa had fraudulently obtained two passports including a diplomatic passport by submitting forged documents to the Department of Immigration and Emigration. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

This is a classic example of how justice system works when some one is out of politics. Why it took 12 years for the case to conclude? Is it because the husband was in good books of the big powers until recently? What about other cases pending against family members of the Rajapakses?
